Lüneburger Heide
This valley basin with the poetic name Totengrund is a truly magical place in the Lüneburg Heath. During the heather blossom, which usually lasts from the end of August to the beginning of September, this place, which is already worth seeing, is transformed into a landscape of thousands of purple-coloured flowers.
If you have the time, you should go here early in the morning and if you are lucky, you will find the heath shrouded in a delicate morning mist.
I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time twice – once at Steingrund and once at Totengrund. Both times I was travelling for a book project and returned with good photographs. This is one of the views of the Totengrund.
There are many theories about how this place got its name. It is very likely – as it is a dry valley – that the soil here was less fertile.
The print is beautiful in all its variations. It all comes down to personal preference. I like it in the brown and white shadow gap frame as well as in the walnut shadow gap frame.
